ComIT Expands Operations into Western Canada, Thanks to Federal Investment
Pablo Listingart, ComIT’s Founder, changes lives by offering free career training, allowing unemployed Canadians to break the cycle of “survival jobs” and create lucrative, sustainable futures in IT
On August 26, 2019, the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and Member of Parliament for Wascana, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada, announced $28,637,138 in funding for 22 companies and organizations in Saskatchewan, with ComIT being one of the proud recipients. The organization will now be able to increase their training programs throughout Western Canada, and expand into Vancouver and Edmonton, two new locations for ComIT.
“We’re thrilled and honoured to receive this funding, and to see the support that the Canadian government has shown us,” said Pablo Listingart. “We know that we’re changing lives for the better – the proof is in the job placement of our graduates, and their positive feedback – but it’s also rewarding to know that our country’s leadership also recognizes ComIT’s importance to the lives of Canadians.”
ComIT training programs are available in Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Kitchener, with Vancouver and Edmonton courses starting in January.
“Our government supports western Canadian companies, innovators, and researchers that are important to regional economies across Canada. Investments like these support new technologies, economic growth, and the creation of good middle-class jobs,” said The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada in a recent release.
“I am very grateful for the opportunities and really appreciate the help ComIT has given me,” said Nic Feng ComIT graduate. “I had already given up hope on entering the IT industry, but you and your colleagues really made me feel valued and now I have a real chance to prove myself.”
