ComIT highlighted by Canada Government’s #ImmigrationMatters campaign
WINNIPEG, April 17, 2019.- The Government of Canada’s Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada (IRCC) featured the work of ComIT on a brief documentary video posted in its #ImmigrationMatters campaign website.
The video highlights the work of ComIT and its founder and executive director, Pablo Listingart, in training and help with labor insertion for people who cannot afford a university career or other types of paid training, including migrants, thus democratizing access to education. ComIT provides free training in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) courses and soft skills to people for free, with an aim of helping them get a job and transform their lives. The mission of ComIT is supported with grants awarded from tech companies who in turn can also benefit from potential employees trained in new technologies.
The Government of Canada’s #ImmigrationMatters campaign seeks to tell the story of immigrants who are making a difference in their communities throughout the country. Pablo Listingart arrived to Canada in 2015. He currently resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his wife and two children.
In Canada, more than 140 people have graduated from the ComIT courses since mid-2017 to date, and more than 100 have managed to get a job in the ICT sector. During 2019, ComIT will be running courses in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Toronto, Calgary and Kitchener.
