ComIT Launches Book Project - Publication aims to inspire and support the tech community
In his over two decades in tech, ComIT Founder and Executive Director Pablo Listingart has met hundreds of industry leaders and aspiring professionals. He’s had a front-row seat to their triumphs and innovations, and he’s also heard their stresses and worries—more so in the last few years than ever before.
“The field is changing at an unprecedented pace, both in terms of technology and the job market,” says Listingart. “AI is altering the ecosystem and it’s becoming harder to stay focused and to find work, even if you are skilled and passionate. I’ve learned that people need help to stay motivated.”
In response, Listingart and ComIT have launched a book project designed to inspire people in tech and offer practical advice to support people’s professional journeys. The book will feature Listingart’s own insights while capturing the stories of more than 20 people in the field, including many ComIT graduates.
“Almost everyone said ‘yes’ when I reached out to invite them to participate. Our former students and others are happy for the opportunity to lift others up,” says Listingart, who’s previously written about his own early-career motivation crisis . “Our goal is that people will see hints of their own stories and pathways in the book, find the encouragement to get unstuck, and find the drive and the strategies to move forward.”
The book project coincides with the tenth anniversary of ComIT in Canada and the fifteenth anniversary of sister organization Comunidad IT in Argentina. For Listingart, the book is a way of giving back to the tech community. “My dream is that our book will help elevate the tech community,” says Listingart.
“This project is a way I can say thank you to our funders, our students, our alumni, our trainers, and to the industry leaders who have embraced our graduates.”
Listingart will be working with Winnipeg-based writer Stu Slayen to produce the book, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2026.
