Mobile application helps training and employment in IT
BUENOS AIRES, November 21, 2018.- ComIT launched today, November 21, 2018, its mobile application for training and skills in information technology (IT) skills. The app was presented with eight ComIT courses already available, and another ten new ones will be incorporated during 2019.
The development of the application and its contents was possible thanks to the support of Google.org, Google's philanthropic arm. This contribution contributed to ComIT being able to deploy an initiative aimed at training citizens in the digital field, including programs related to the dissemination of Artificial Intelligence.
Each course consists of between five and eight classes of approximately one hour. Each one of them has an introductory video, contents, and a multiple choice test to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the users. In many of them, practice tutorials will also be available. Upon passing all exams, the user will pass the course and win the corresponding badge or medal.
To be able to access the courses through the application, it will be necessary to pay an annual subscription of 12 dollars, which will allow taking all available courses. This value will be used to finance the use of servers and the development of new content, allowing the application to be self-sustaining and free of advertising.
The development of the ComIT app is part of a project supported by Google.org. In addition to the mobile application, this initiative supported the realization of courses and the creation of the online platform "Crea en tu Idioma", both in cooperation between the NGOs ComIT (Argentina) and Colnodo (Colombia).
According to Héctor Mujica, manager of Google.org for Latin America, "innovation, social inclusion and socio-economic development of countries require fundamentally the work in education of the population. For that reason, from Google.org we support this type of initiatives, which favor maximizing the potential of ICTs, helping Latin Americans to participate and benefit from the Digital Era ".
Pablo Listingart, co-founder and executive director of ComIT, said that "we are very excited about the launch of the Comunidad IT mobile application. Given the wide use of smart mobile devices, we believe that the app will allow many people to access training courses, increasing their chances of having a job in a very short time. "
While Soledad Acuña, operational director of ComIT, stressed that "being able to attend courses from a smartphone gives greater flexibility to students, which represents great opportunities to optimize study time. In addition to increasing the options to people who have less time available or distance difficulties to access the content of the classes.
The ComIT mobile application can be downloaded for Android and for iOS.
