Pablo Listingart awarded Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada

We are honoured to share that Pablo Listingart, founder of ComIT, has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (Civil Division) by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada.

The honour recognizes Pablo’s work helping underserved communities across Canada access careers in technology through free training programs and community support.

What began in Winnipeg as a small initiative focused on making technology education more accessible has grown into a national nonprofit organization supporting unemployed and underemployed individuals through practical, job-focused tech training.

Since its founding in 2016, ComIT has worked alongside volunteers, instructors, community organizations, and industry partners to help people from diverse backgrounds build new opportunities in technology. Over the years, the organization has supported newcomers, Indigenous learners, career changers, and individuals facing financial barriers in accessing education and entering the tech sector.

“This recognition belongs to the entire ComIT community,” said Listingart. “What we’ve built has only been possible thanks to the support of volunteers, instructors, students, partners, donors, and everyone who believed that access to technology education can change lives.”

At a time when technology continues to shape the future of work, ComIT remains focused on helping people access meaningful career opportunities while supporting workforce development across Canada.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey and helped make this impact possible.
