• ARE YOU READY TO LEARN TO CODE?

ComIT is a charitable organization on a mission to help change the lives of unemployed and underemployed Canadians by providing free technology and professional skills training that will help them secure in-demand careers in technology in their community.

We run our three-month, part-time courses in communities across the country, tailoring them based on the technology needs and demands of local employers to ensure our graduates are developing skills that will set them up for success in their local job market.

Our programs are 100% scholarship-based and free for students that qualify, based on our programs' eligibility criteria.

Students are required to attend classes about 8 hours/week, do considerable homework, and create a piece of software as a final project and proof of the skills they have learned.

Upon graduation, students are expected to apply for jobs and network in addition to any help ComIT can provide in contacting employers who are open to interviewing recent graduates

how much are the course fees?

The courses we offer do not have any fees to be paid by students. And although they do have a cost, this is 100% assumed by our organization. That is why all ComIT students are considered scholarship holders.

do you get jobs for your graduates?

ComIT doesn’t do job placements or hire its graduates. We train our students for free in tech and soft skills that are in demand by the industry to increase the probabilities of getting hired.

WHAT IS THE SELECTION CRITERIA?

- Legally entitled to work full time in Canada
- Situation of unemployment or underemployment
- Not able to financially afford other types of training (College, University, Bootcamps, etc)
- Secondary school completed
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in Tech
- Between 18 and 45 years old
- Technical orientation
- Motivation and perseverance
- Commitment and responsibility

IF I DON'T QUALIFY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP, CAN I STILL PAY TO ATTEND THE COURSE?

No. ComIT is a registered charity, and as so, we work with specific people. We are not a coding academy by any means.

IF I DO NOT HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE IN PROGRAMMING, CAN I TAKE THE COURSE?

Yes. While all prior knowledge helps, the courses are designed to start from scratch. The most important thing is that you put a lot of effort and dedication to learn everything you need to be able to get a job.

DO YOU PROVIDE ANY CERTIFICATE AT THE END OF THE COURSE?

ComIT grants certificates to those students who complete the course, according to the criteria that is communicated at the beginning of it. However, we always mention that a strong portfolio works better than certificates in the tech industry.

IN WHICH CITIES AND DATES ARE THE COURSES BEING HELD?

Courses' dates, schedules and cities will be announced on our social media channels. Follow us on , and .

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

Registrations are made exclusively on our website, please click on the 'Apply for a scholarship' button below.

I ALREADY REGISTERED ON THE WEBSITE, AM I ALREADY ACCEPTED?

No. You will not get an answer automatically once you register, as we respect registration order. After that, there is a screening process in place that you can read about on this same page.

I REGISTERED AND HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM COMIT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Registrations are open all year around. Once we determine a starting date and topic in a specific area, we'll contact everyone in our waiting list, by registration order, if they qualify according to our selection criteria. There's no need to do anything once you complete the form.

I ALREADY REGISTERED IN THE PAST AND NOW I WANT TO RE-REGISTER BUT THE PAGE DOES NOT ALLOW ME.

Our website does not allow duplicate registrations. If you need to inform any change in your registration information (eg: change in your time availability), please let us know, indicating first and last name, through the contact form in our Contact section.

If you are a previous ComIT student, please remember that our scholarships are once in a lifetime and you can’t register for a new course.

I'M TRYING TO SIGN IN TO YOUR WEBSITE BUT I'M NOT ABLE TO.

The Sign in section of our website is for graduates only. It is our job search platform and can only be accessed by companies and graduates.

CAN I CHOOSE WHICH COURSE TO TAKE?

No, you can't. ComIT's goal is for beneficiaries to get jobs. In order to do that, we work closely with companies to understand their needs and we train our students in those topics. We are not a coding academy where anyone can register to learn a specific topic.

IS ATTENDANCE MANDATORY?

Yes. The course requires 75% attendance for successful completion and a final Project that you will have to work on throughout the course.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DROP OUT OR I CAN'T GET TO 75% ATTENDANCE RATE?

ComIT’s work can be done thanks to donations we receive, and we take our resources seriously. If you drop out from a course or can’t attend 75% of your classes and get expelled, you’ll be banned from any future ComIT courses and events.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER COURSE TIMES AVAILABLE IF I CAN’T MAKE IT AT A CONFIRMED TIME?

No. You were confirmed for the course for which you were contacted because you stated on the registration form that you had the necessary time availability.
